Sister Maria Marciano, a civil and hydrology engineer and community organizer, acknowledges the crowed as she receives an honorary doctor of humane letters, presented by Patrick Carey (left), professor emeritus of theology, and Marquette University President Michael Lovell.

In May of 2017, Sr. Maria was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Humanities Degree during the commencement ceremonies at Marquette University in Milwaukee.  In addition to this prestigious recognition, she was presented with a check to further her efforts in Haiti and the Dominican Republic.
